We had an awesome time on the sandy beach (which did not have the usual pebbles and rocks) and saw 2 seals swimming in the water just beyond 50 yards out. So be sure to get there early! As dogs are permitted on a leash at all times in the "unguarded" section of the beach, we only had to walk beyond the marker a few yards either to the right or the left. Talking to others on the beach, we heard that the lot fills up quickly, and even by 9am, the lot is full and people have to wait. Because the parking lot is small, we arrived at 8:45am each morning and had no problem finding a spot to park. As we were staying in Eastham, we visited Nauset Beach first. This pass lasts a lifetime and is good for any National Park System in the U.S. Entrance fees are $15/day for parking at the beaches, but at the Visitor Center, we were able to buy a "Senior Pass" for $10 (driver's license as proof of age 62 and over). We learned that there are 5-6 beaches along the seashore that are dog friendly including Coast Guard Beach and Nauset Light Beach (Eastham), Marconi Beach (Wellfleet), and Herring Cove Beach and Race Point Beach (Provincetown). We stopped at the Salt Pond Visitor Center/Cape Cod National Seashore (US 6 in Eastham) and talked with a National Park Service ranger. Seeing that we take our dog everywhere, we figured we'd check it out. For a last minute get-away, we headed to Eastham, MA on Cape Cod because we had read online that dogs are permitted on some of the beaches on the Cape.
